I recently got to shot Ivan and Phoebe’s wedding. What a fun group!
Ivan and Phoebe were married in a wonderful ceremony and reception on May 11. Thank you guys for letting me participate.
This year I was practicing my HDR skills by photographing Star Wars ornaments on the various trees in the house. Yes, there is more than one tree.
I shot these with a 50mm macro lens, and then mixed them in Photoshop CS6. I don’t like very over blown HDR images.
More than anything I just recommend going around your house and looking for things to be creative with. These objects are small but
using a macro lens and some photoshop creativity you can make some very neat images.
You don’t need to be in an exotic location or with famous people to make images you like.
Lighthouses on Etsy.
I got into trying Etsy a couple of months ago. The community of Etsy seems to be very supportive.
Currently have taken the time to only post a few pics. Some of my favorite are these lighthouse shots from around the Outer Banks.
These prints are signed and dated by me.
I shot these to put on Woodland Heights Baptist Church’s Facebook Page. I used the Clarify and Vignetting slider in Lightroom more than usual but I really like the texture of these shots.

I met the Webb family at the beginning of the summer when I photographed the Miller family. The Webbs asked me to photograph their family for their mother’s birthday. Nice idea for a birthday present I must say.
I wrote before that is always helpful for a photographer to have their clients plan and already have shots in their head, and the Webbs already knew what they needed. Nice group shots of the whole family, plus shots of each separate family.
Shooting these outside on a nice August day makes for some very attractive shots. But I think that using a Flash Bracket with my Canon Speedlight makes gives the light a better angle than using it directly on the camera. It can also allows me more angles to bounce my flash.
If you are learning photography consider getting a bracket to step up your portrait work.

I spent the morning with Emily and her family going to several different places on their family farm. They really had good ideas for photographs and it was apparent that mom had thought really hard about poses and locations. (Hint, … Continue reading
